JAMMU, Oct 12: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today kick started the construction work of deep drains alongside main road at Lower Shiv Nagar area of Ward No.33 on the demands of the locals as well as shopkeepers of the area.
Mayor said that due to broken drainage system in this Bazar, dirty water often overflows causing great inconvenience for the passersby and shopkeepers. This development work has been started with an estimated cost of Rs. 9.00 lakh only. Mayor also inaugurated the functioning of platform built around traditional peepal tree at Rajpura Mangotrian of Ward No: 33 which has been constructed at an estimate cost of Rs. 4.50 lakh.
Arun Gupta, Executive Engineer, S.K. Bhat, Junior Engineer Division – II as well as prominent inhabitants of the Ward were also present on the occasion.
Later, Mayor along with Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, Narotam Sharma councillor of Ward No: 3 (Peer kho area), Parveen Kerni Jammu East Mandal president, Madam Sunita Koul councillor of Ward No: 4, Gopal Gupta councillor of Ward No: 5 also conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Peer Kho and its adjoining localities, inaugurated the Green Walk Way Project starting from Peer Kho upto Panjtirthi covering all the traditional and old temples situated enroute. This project under AMRUT Scheme was constructed at an estimate cost of Rs. 4 crore.
Besides this, Mayor along with Jyoti Devi Councilor of Ward No: 53 also paid visit of the Trikuta Nagar area and met with the locals, listened to their general issues regarding proper sanitation, lifting of stray dogs and animals on routine basis, installation and rectification of LED street lights in the left over areas, construction of remaining lanes and drains in the Ward and other related matters. Mayor assured that all their genuine issues will be taken up on priority basis. He also kick started the construction work of drains as well as black topping work of the road and lanes which are Kaccha at Bhawani Vihar Trikuta Nagar area which was the long pending demands of the locals. Mayor said that this development work is being executed by the Public Works Department with an estimate cost of Rs. 5.63 lakh only.
