Mayor highlights developmental activities of Municipal Corporation

JAMMU, July 3: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, Narinder Singh, chairman Health and Sanitation Committee, Kuldeep Singh, chairman Social Justice Committee, Yash Pal Sharma, chairman Swachh Bharat Committee highlighted major activities undertaken by the JMC during the month of June 2021. Addressing a press conference here, today Mayor said various steps taken by JMC for making Jammu more neat, clean and green city.
He said JMC laid foundation stone at Municipal land near Dogra Chowk Jewel utilised as charging station for electric – rickshaws meant for garbage collections in various wards of the old city.
JMC started the work of prestigious project of laying of dedicated feeders for street lights and high mast lights as well as setting up of a foolproof electric control room and other allied activities for monitoring the installed LED lights as well as their rectification to give relief to its citizens and ensured proper functioning of online complaint system regarding street lights.
It started work on construction of a Tanga Stand along with suitable store room at Gole area near river Tawi to give relief to the persons who are doing this traditional business from the last many years.
JMC laid foundation stone of Garbage Transfer Station at Bhagwati Nagar, started the construction work of artificial water body near Sewerage Treatment Plant site Bhagwati Nagar, constructed chain fencing and protection wall with Rs 1.2 crore at Municipal land at Bandhu Rakh and to avoid any type of encroachments and damage by floods a lot of development and other allied activities have been taken up by way of installing Weigh Bridge for properly maintaining the record of all the materials, plastic and other things collected for further segregation under UNDP, started construction of deluxe toilets/ bathrooms for the Chowkidars and workers engaged under UNDP project under Swacch Bharat Mission, planting of saplings for keeping the area green and eco friendly.
