Confed demands representation in Delimitation Commission

JAMMU, July 3: All India Confederation of SC, ST OBC Organisations has demanded representation in Delimitation Commission as a nominated member.
In a press conference here today R.K Kalsotra, J&K president of Confederation urged upon the Union Government and the Delimitation Commission to nominate one associate member from SC/ST sections of J&K for the remainder of its tenure.
“Presently, our communities do not have a member in parliament as a result of which we remained unrepresented in Delimitation Commission,” he claimed adding that the Government and Delimitation Commission should take the decision of Aug 5, 2019 to its logical conclusion by ensuring that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes get adequate representation in legislative assembly.
He said, the Government should postpone delimitation until a clean census is conducted and elections should follow only after that.
Ch Mohd Shafi Bajjad, Laxman Bhagat, Mohinder Kumar, Ishtiaq Bhatti, M.L Chadgal, S.D Thappa and Karan Raja were also present in the press conference.
