Mayor, ANC leader among 637 test +ve in Kashmir

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Aug 4: The Mayor of Srinagar city and senior vice president of Awami National Conference were among 637 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 today in Kashmir.
Mayor of Srinagar city, Junaid Mattoo today tested positive for COVID-19. “Have tested positive for COVID-19. Have moderate symptoms and have isolated himself,” he said in a social media post.
Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference senior vice-president Muzaffar Shah also tested positive for COVID-19 today.
“Dear family & friends I have tested COVID positive with mild symptoms. Though fully vaccinated & boosted, yet anyone who has been in contact with me during the last few days is requested & advised to isolate & take due care. Hope & pray this will get over soon,” he said in a social media post.
Srinagar reported 248 COVID cases today, Baramulla 156, Budgam 80, Pulwama 15, Kupwara 45, Anantnag 40, Bandipora 22, Ganderbal 6, Kulgam 23 and Shopian 2.
Meanwhile, woman died of COVID-19 while 142 persons tested positive in Jammu. Ladakh added 11.
A 70-year-old woman hailing from village Saaj in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district succumbed to co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.
This has taken Corona toll in Rajouri district to 250 and Jammu region to 2345. J&K has total 4774 COVID fatalities.
Among 142 COVID positive cases in Jammu division, 59 were logged in Jammu district, 18 in Doda, 15 Kishtwar, 11 each in Kathua and Ramban, 10 Udhampur, seven Poonch, five each in Rajouri and Samba districts and one in Reasi.
Jammu and Kashmir now has 4991 active positives cases including 1483 in Jammu division and 3508 in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today added 11 COVID positive cases, all in Leh district.
Ladakh now has 83 active cases —69 in Leh and 14 in Kargil.
