LEH, Dec 8: The weeklong Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhana Yojna “Matru Vandana Saptah” with the theme “Towards building a healthy nation (Surakshit Janani Viksit Dharini)”, concluded here today.
The Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar, who presided the valedictory function, highly appreciated all the staff and workers of ICDS and Health Dept, Leh for making this week long programme success and said that this programme should continue with same passion throughout the year to cover maximum number of pregnant women in the district. He hoped that every Anganwadi worker will enroll maximum number of beneficiaries in their respective areas under PMMVY scheme and assured all possible help and support from district administration in successful implementation of PMMVY scheme.
District Programme Officer, ICDS, Leh Kunzes Angmo briefed about the weeklong programme carried out throughout the district and highlighting the benefits of PMMVY scheme, said that this programme is devised to provide an incentive of Rs 5000 in three installments for the first child to every pregnant women except for regular Government employees. She said that the objective of this programme is to identify new beneficiaries and spread awareness involving public representatives at grass root level.
CDPO Kharu, Zarina Bano gave detail about the weeklong programme and said that around 46 new beneficiaries were identified during the programme. District Health Officer Dr Iqbal, while addressing the programme, gave a detail account of the programmes of Health Department Leh for pregnant women and child.
On the occasion, DC Leh and PO ICDS Leh felicitated Anganwadi Workers who enrolled maximum beneficiaries in their respective blocks.
Sharing their experiences, two beneficiaries from Tibetan Refugee Camp 2, namely Tsedar Lamo and Kunzang Dolma said that PMMVY scheme has hugely benefited them to nourish their child and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for devising important programme for pregnant women.
BMO Leh Dr Diskit, officers, Supervisors of ICDS, Anganwadi workers and beneficiaries were present on the occasion.
