HIRANAGAR (KATHUA), May 24: Police continued massive searches along the International Border (IB) route leading towards the National Highway in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district for second day today after four suspected foot prints were observed yesterday morning in a field, located close to Tarnah Nullah, falling between Dayala Chak and Chadwal.
“There has been no let up in the operations. At the same time, no movement of suspects has been noticed,” police said.
SSP Kathua Suleman Choudhary, DySP Border Ravel Choudhary and other senior police officers were camping at the spot, leading the search operation right from the border belt to the National Highway. The Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and local people have also been involved in the searches.
DIG BSF Pardeep Katyal also visited the spot, where foot prints were seen by a civilian yesterday. However, according to sources, fencing has been in tact along the IB.
Sources said the Dog Squad was also pressed into the service but they didn’t move beyond some distance, mainly due to increased temperature.
“Nothing can be said at this stage. There were definite foot prints of four persons at four to five places along Tarnah Nullah. However, movement of the suspects hasn’t been observed anywhere,” police said, adding the searches were on and people have been alerted, both along the border as well as the villages close to the National Highway.
Police have advised the people to exercise caution during the movement and inform police if they observe any kind of suspicious movement. All security forces and police installations have also been alerted.
