JAMMU, Sept 7: Jammu Citizen Forum-a body comprising of intelligentsia, intellectuals and common man,  today held a mega Bike Rally in Jammu City in support of Indian Army and the security forces, including the State Police that  are fighting against the proxy war triggered by Pakistan in the Kashmir Valley.
Carrying tri-colour, over 3,000 youth and school children from across the Jammu province,   assembled at MA Stadium this morning and took out the rally amidst   patriotic slogans and waving national flag. Riding on motorbikes, scooters and seated in cars, the rally passed through various bazaars and before its culmination at `Balidan Stambh’ a memorandum was submitted to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal.
The memorandum   read that the Civil Society Jammu feels privileged to place on record deep sense of appreciation of the people of Jammu Province to the sterling contribution of valiant officers and Jawans of Indian Army since the dawn of Independence in preserving and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India. The memorandum will be forwarded to the Chief of Army Staff, Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag.
A number of Jammu Muslims also took part in the rally and came down heavily on Kashmiri separatists.
At `Balidan Stamb’, the participants paid tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Besides, retired Army officers, prominent among  those in the rally, included  Zorawar Singh, general secretary, Press Club of Jammu;  Rakesh Gupta, president Chamber of Commerce and Industries;  Chief Engineer (Retd) Narinder Rohmetra;   Arvind Mahajan, Chairman K C Gurukul School;  Aarush Mahajan, Suneel Gupta, Chairman Heritage School;  H L  Abrol, Chairman M.V. International School;  Kamal Mohendru, Brig (Retd) Sukhdev Singh, Brig Choudhary, DIG BSF (Retd)  Gupta, Col (Retd) V K Sahi,  Rajesh Choudhary;   B.S. Slathia, former president JKHBA, Jammu;  Manu Shrivats, former president, Press Club of Jammu and Defence PRO Lt Col Munish Mehta.
