Martyr Nihal Gurung cremated with full military honour

KATHUA, Aug 26: The Rifleman martyr Nihal Gurung of 5/9 GR was cremated with full military honour at the cremation ground of his native village Ghagrote, in tehsil Basholi of Kathua district today. He has scarified his life at North Kashmir’s Kupwara district near LoC when a land mine was blasted during the routine patrolling.
He got injured and airlifted to Badamibagh Hospital in capital city of Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries.
His body reached at his native village Ghagrote today and the family members in gloom and sorrow started wailing in grief as they had lost their only son.
His father ex-serviceman, Ravinder Gurung was in grief but braved to salute his son and said that his son was very active and always wanted to become leader. “I am satisfied that he has attained martyrdom for the sake of his mother-land. His cousin sister, Vipasha Gurung was in grief and tears.
She said that she was waiting for her brother on Raksha Bandhan but he came wrapped with Tri Colour. The cruel hands of death did not listen the woes of a sister, she screamed. The whole Ghagrote village was in pain and grief and no one has any word except to say that he was son of motherland and he enlisted his name as martyrs and gave honour to village.
He was cremated with full military honours. Hundreds of people and family members joined the funeral procession taken out in the evening. The Military honours and National salute was given to martyr and Army Officers also attended the wreath laying ceremony held at cremation ground. The local people and family members also saluted the brave soldier who has attained martyrdom for the sake of nation. He belonged to a family which has tradition in serving the army as his grand-father Anantbir  Gurung and father Ravinder Gurung  also served in the Army. His family was making preparation for the marriage of martyr Nihal in the next year but no one knew the fate. Among other ex-minister, Prem Sagar Aziz, SHO Anil Sharma and prominent citizens of Basholi paid tributes to martyr.
