JAMMU, Sept 10: Allaying the fears of Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and organizations representing the SC community in the State, regarding the holding of examinations for various posts including that of teachers by Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB), on September 14, the Chairperson SSB Shagufta Parveen today said that the candidates marks obtained in the examination in one district will be entertained for the other districts merit list if the candidate had applied for that district also.
Talking to Excelsior here today she said the entire list will be put online and the step was taken to save the time and smoothen the process for the benefit of candidates.
She said as the SC candidates are entitled to fill up the forms for all 22 districts of the State including their respective home districts, the marks obtained by them in one district will be considered for the other districts merit list also provided the candidate has filled up the form for those districts too and the information given by him or her will be correct.
Ms Parveen said even the general category candidates who have filled up forms for more than one posts and can’t appear in the test for other posts the merit secured in one test will be entertained for the other posts for which the candidate would have applied.
She however made it clear that this all will be subject to information available in the form filled up by the candidate. In case there is any wrong information in the form, the SSB will not entertain that.
She said for all posts and district single exam will be the base.
It may be recalled that various SC organizations including the Confederation of SC, ST OBC organizations and retired SC /ST Employees Welfare Forum district Kishtwar have expressed their concern over the holding of examination for the teachers posts for all districts by SSB on a single day saying that this way the candidates belonging to ST community will be deprived of the opportunity to apply for other districts for which they were made entitled through an Reservation Act passed by State Assembly.
The two organizations had taken up the issue with the SSB authorities also and warned that in case the Government deprives the SCs of availing the opportunity to seek a job in other districts under SC category, they will come to streets.
Expressing concern over the decision the Confederation chairman, Kalsotra and general secretary of Welfare Forum G R Aryan said that by conducting examination on a single day in all the districts all over the State, the candidates belonging to community were unable to appear for all 22 districts. But the SSB Chairperson allayed these fears.
They said prior to passage or Reservation Act the SC category candidates were getting only fur percent reservation in the State as there was no population of SCs in Kashmir Valley but after the passage of the Act the SCs are entitled to eight per cent reservations and they can apply for Valley posts also.
