REASI, Sept 23: Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today distributed relief material among more than two hundred people at Dera Baba, who have been affected by flash floods, rains and landslides.
The relief items included biscuits, flour, rice, pulses, tents and medicines. The relief material was provided by NGOs Gyan Agarwal and Gyan Goyal from Delhi.
The Minister accompanied by MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Reasi Shabir Ahmad Bhatt took stock of ground situation of relief measures. He visited flood affected Dera Baba and adjoining areas along the bank of Chenab river and had a first-hand assessment of the magnitude of damage caused by the floods.
After taking stock of the relief measures, the Minister interacted with the locals and urged upon the people to extend all possible help and guidance to officials in accurate assessment of damage to life, crop and property.
The Minister called upon district administration to prioritize restoration works saying this is important for reaching out to the affected population. The district administration was asked to immediately start distribution of the free ration.
