UDHAMPUR, Nov 1: Reiterating the demand of separate Assembly Constituency for Panchari-Landar-Bhamag area during his one-day tour at Galiote, Lander, Katti, Lattiyar, Kultiyar, Panchari and Meer Panchayats, former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia addressed protests at the Panchayat level.
While addressing the gatherings, he said that this area can’t develop untill it become a separate Assembly constituency. “This far-flung hilly area falls under three Assembly constituencies such as Reasi, Chenani & Udhampur and development here is not possible till a separate Assembly constituency is created for this area,” he explained and stressed that the time has come to fight unitedly for separate Assembly.
Mankotia appealed to the members of the De-limitation Commission and to visit the entire area and take opinion of the people and then decide. He said that if Gurez area of Kashmir can be a Legislative Assembly constituency with 14 thousand voters only, then why this hilly area whose voter strength is more than 40 thousand cannot be given a separate Legislative Assembly status ?
Mankotia also drew attention towards slow pace of road work from Kainthgali to Galiyot and appealed the administration to take cognizance of the same. He also demanded that pending MGNREGA liability of the labourers for the years 2016-17-18 of labourers should be cleared as early as possible. He also highlighted the difficulties being faced by people in getting benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and crop loss due to heavy rains and hail storms in this area last week.
On this occasion, local leader Surjit Singh,Sarpanch Shamsher Singh, former Sarpanch Rajinder Sharma, senior leader Kulchattar Singh, Harjeet Singh besides many Panchs Sarpanchs and locals were present in large numbers.
