UDHAMPUR, May 8: Former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia today appealed J&K UT Government to take early steps to evacuate the persons including students, labourers etc of Jammu Kashmir who are stranded outside UT due to lockdown.
In a handout issued here today, Mankotia threatened to sit on indefinite hunger strike if the evacuation is not done within one week.
He informed that more than 2000 stranded persons established contact on the helpline established by him on April 29 and the information in this regard was forwarded to Government, which has so far adopted a casual approach towards the evacuation of these stranded persons. He said that students and labourers, stuck outside UT, were forced to live without food.
Mankotia urged Lt Governor GC Murmu to take necessary steps to evacuate these persons within one week otherwise he would sit on indefinite hunger strike.
