Submits memorandum to Governor

UDHAMPUR, Apr 26: To invite the attention of Government towards the burning issues of Udhampur, Panthers Party staged one -day dharna outside Deputy Commissioner’s Office here, today.
The demonstrators protested against paralysed traffic management, polluted as well as irregular water supply, increased drug abuse & increased Toll Tax between Jammu & Udhampur.
While addressing protestors, former MLA & NPP president, Balwant Singh Mankotia briefed that from January 1, this year he started door to door campaign about these issues & after one month “Maha rally” was also organised as mark of protest in which large number of people participated.
Mankotia said that Government & administration turned blind eye & has completely failed to take necessary action to sort out these issues.
He termed “Ban Toll Plaza” as big burden on the people of Udhampur & expressed his anxiety over the gradual increase in the Toll-Tax every year for 60km long, Udhampur – Jammu route. He said that such a high increase in the rate to Rs 200 is not applied any where in the country for such a distance and demanded that the rate be decreased, so that the people can heave a sigh of relief.
He also demanded immediate steps be taken to provide relief to people from routine traffic jams & public toilets on Highway in Udhampur town near MH Chowk, Jakhani Chowk as well as surroundings Rathian, Battal-Ballian, Tikri etc be constructed.
Expressing deep anguish over the failure of Government to curtail the drug abuse & trafficking in Udhampur, he said that youth is falling in its trap.
Mankotia disclosed that People of Udhampur are forced to drink most polluted water.
He also submitted a memorandum to Governor through DC Udhampur.
