JAMMU, Apr 30: Apni Party provincial president, Manjit Singh today strongly condemned the recent arbitrary hike in passenger fares, terming the move a severe blow to the common man who is already grappling with mounting economic hardships.
While addressing a meeting of party workers, Singh expressed his deep concern over the sudden financial burden this decision places on daily commuters, students and stated that public transport is an essential service that must remain accessible and affordable for everyone across the region.
He emphasized that making daily commuting unaffordable defeats the fundamental purpose of public transit and unnecessarily forces the masses to suffer.
Singh noted that at a time when people are looking toward the government for relief and economic support, imposing additional financial strains through steep fare increases is both unjustified and highly insensitive to the ground realities faced by ordinary citizens.
In a strong appeal to the authorities, he urged the administration and the relevant transport departments to immediately rethink this decision and initiate a complete rollback of the fare hike.
