Vijaypur, June 4: Former Minister and Congress General Secretary Manjit Singh today condemned coalition Govern-ment for neglecting the farmers of the border villages in Vijaypur.
During his tour to the border villages, Manjit Singh interacted with the farmers who were facing fresh threat of flash floods since the damaged bandh has not been repaired by the Government even as over three years have passed.
While meeting the farmers, the senior Congress leader assured them his proper support and said that the BJP-PDP Government has left the farmers to the mercy of God instead of working for the welfare of the poor section of the society.
Singh said that over three years have passed but the bandh has not been repaired. The bandh was damaged in last floods.
“There is fresh flood threat in the area and the farmers have been spending sleepless nights in view of approaching Monsoon season,” he said, adding that the Government should give compensation to the flood affected farmers for their crop damage.
He said that the compensation was assured but nothing was given to the famers which is unfortunate.
Meanwhile, he threatened that if the demands of the farmers would not be accepted, they would launch agitation against the Government.
