JAMMU, Sept 11: With an objective to create awareness regarding the different beneficial schemes to farmers especially regarding various diseases attacking animals a workshop was held at SKUAST, Jammu today.
During the workshop Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s address to farmers while inaugurating National Animal Disease Programme at Mathura, UP was telecast.
Addressing the farmers and invited guests Manhas stressed upon on ground implementation of beneficial schemes meant for the agriculturists and livestock farmers.
He said that SKUAST has a key role to play in this regard in terms of facilitating the farmers and as well as making them aware about the modern trends and techniques being used in the field of agriculture and introduction of new breeds especially in Jammu and Kashmir wherein most of people are dependent upon agriculture and livestock business.
Manhas further added that NADP is first of its kind programme being launched which will be completely funded by the Central Government and is going to benefit upto grass root level.
He stressed upon the authorities especially in SKUAST who have key role to play in upcoming days while delivering services to the farmers and making them aware regarding various benefits of scheme.
Jammu and Kashmir has got the potential in agriculture especially when we talk about the production of the cash crops across the State.
He said Centre has been focussing to provide congenial atmosphere to the farmers to increase the benefits while keeping in the over all progress of farmers in mind.
Manhas was also introduced with the various faculties and departments within the premises by Vice Chancellor, SKUAST K.S Risam.
