Man sets himself ablaze

KATHUA, July 27: A 20-year-old man set himself ablaze by pouring kerosene oil on himself at his residence, falling under the jurisdiction of Kathua police station today.
According to the police spokesman, Chetan Singh, a newly recruited army personal son of Fakir Chand resident of village Barni, Basantpur, Kathua who was posted at Faizabad deserted the army unit and returned his home.
His father persuaded him to rejoin the unit where he was posted. But defying the advice of his father he made a self-immolation attempt.
As the family members noticed him in unconscious condition, he was shifted in District Hospital, where doctors referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for specialised treatment.
Meanwhile, Kathua Police has registered the case under relevant Section and started investigation.
