SRINAGAR, Apr 24: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man in Mahrajpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“The accused has been arrested after the family members of minor girl approached the police,” a police sources said. They said the crime was committed on Monday when the accused Fayaz Ahamd Shakar allegedly took the girl in his car and raped her.
Sources said that the girl returned home in a sub-conscious condition and told the family about the crime after which the infuriated family members went to Sopore police station and lodged the complaint against the accused.
“A medical examination of the girl was carried out on Monday which confirmed the rape,” they further said, adding that a case FIR No 107/2019 has been registered in this connection at police station Sopore under Section 363/376 RPC and investigation initiated.
