Man murdered, body thrown in Chenab

JAMMU, Apr 14: A middle aged man was brutally murdered with his hands and legs tied and body thrown into river Chenab in Akhnoor. Police recovered the body this afternoon from the banks of Chenab in Garkhal area of Akhnoor.
Police said the victim has been identified as Abdullah, 45 son of Faqar Din, a resident of Bhalessa, Bhaderwah in Doda district. He was a mason by profession.
Police teams from Akhnoor led by SDPO Farooq Qaiser rushed to Garkhal after getting reports of floating body and recovered it.
Police said hands and legs of the victims had been tied with ropes and sand bags to ensure that it didn’t float.
They said there were marks of external injuries on the body, which confirmed the murder. The body has been sent to hospital for post-mortem. A case under Section 302 RPC has been registered against unidentified persons.
However, they added, the accused haven’t been identified so far. They said investigations were on to identify the place, where the man was murdered and thrown into the river and the persons responsible for the killing.
