KATHUA, Nov 22: What can be called a bizarre and inhuman act, a 40-year-old man allegedly killed his younger brother and sister in-law in Chak Wazir Labzoo in Mareen area of Kathua district early this morning.
The accused identified as Raj Kumar son of Bhagat Ram has been arrested by police and booked for double murder charges.

As per reports, the dispute over a piece of land has been stated to be the cause of the murder. Reports said that two days back, Raj Kumar had threatened his younger brother, Naresh Kumar to eliminate him.
Naresh filed compliant in Raj Bagh Police Station the same day. As police could not take cognizance of the same, Raj Kumar this morning attacked Naresh with a sharp edged weapon who was on way to his field killing him on spot and later he also killed his sister in-law, Arti Devi, wife of Naresh and then fled away from the spot leaving the couple in pool of blood.
The couple had a four year old son and 15 days old daughter. The son had gone to school and was not in the house at the time of attack. Soon after the incident, Kathua police swung into action to nab Raj Kumar.
SSP Kathua R C Kotwal said police solved double murder case and arrested the accused and recovered weapon of offence (Dhrat) at village Chak Wazir Labzoo, Marheen in the jurisdictional area of PS Rajbagh.
He said after PS Rajbagh received the information that one person namely Raj Kumar, son of Lt. Bhagat Ram of Chak Wazir, Labzoo, Marheen has committed double murder of his younger brother namely Naresh Kumar and his sister in law, Arti Devi, wife of Naresh Kumar at village Chak Wazir Labzoo in tehsil Marheen, it swung into action.
Police after receiving the information registered a case FIR Number 232/2022 U/S 302/ IPC at PS Rajbagh. Acting swiftly, a police team headed by SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan along with SHO PS, Rajbagh and incharge PP Marheen rushed to the spot and arrested the accused person within hours who had fled from the spot after committing double murder. Thereafter the police team based on evidence collected from the spot and information gathered from local sources, rounded up the accused and started further investigation.
Panic gripped the area after the news of double murder spread in the locality. The people have demanded thorough probe into the matter and strict action against the accused under law.
