JAMMU, July 20: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Chenab near Jia Pota area of Akhnoor, police sources said.
The deceased was identified as Sheetal Singh alias Shetu, son of late Joginder Singh, a resident of Gurha Bakshi Nagar District Jammu.
His body was found near Balle Bagh and shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor for post-mortem.
Inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated by Akhnoor Police in this regard.
