Man involved in militancy among 3 arrested with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 16: Three drug peddlers including one involved in militancy related activities have been arrested along with large quantity of heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bishnah Police Station led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka near Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Sikanderpur and intercepted Alto car bearing registration number JK12-9896.
During checking, police team recovered 370 grams heroin from the possession of two persons traveling in the car and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Parvez Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz of Village Seri Khwaja Tehsil Haveli, District Poonch and Sharafat Ali Shah, son of Gulzar Hussain Shah of Village Nar, Bhatta Durian Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch.
It is pertinent to mention here that Parvez Ahmed was found involved in militancy related activities and a case stands registered against him under FIR Number 124/2003 under section 302, 307, 120-B and 121 RPC and 7/25 Arms Act at Police Station Poonch on the compliant of Army in the month of September, 2003. Moreover, he was also arrested along with fake currency and a case under section 169/12 stands registered against him with Police Station Poonch. He was also arrested in NDPS Act case registered with Police Station Sunderbani of District Rajouri in the year 2018.
A case under FIR Number 182/19 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria apprehended a pedestrian along with 7.5 kilograms of poppy straw.
The accused has been identified as Firdous Ahmed, son of Mian, a resident of Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 132/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
