JAMMU, Oct 16: J&K’s Kiran Kumari represented the Indian Tug- of-War team, which won silver medal in 14th Asian Tug of War Indoor Championships and 4th South Asian Tug-of-War Champion-ship (Men & Women) held at Ayutthaya, Thailand, recently.
The Jammu & Kashmir Tug-of-War Association under the Presidentship of Hardeep Singh Anand felicitated Kiran Kumari for this outstanding achievement. Kiran Kumari brought laurels to the State as the Indian team reached into the finals. The team was beaten in the finals by Sri Lanka by a little margin and got 2nd position to bag silver in 4th South Asian Tug-of-War Championship. Before reaching the finals in this Championship, the Indian team defeated Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
The team which represented the country in 14th Asian Tug of War Championship was knocked out in the last four stage.
Prominent among others present during the felicitation function were Jodh Singh Isher, General Secretary of the Association; Debasish Chandra, Regional Director, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd; Ajay Peshin, Chandni Sharma and Ravinder Singh.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kiran Kumari has already represented in 3rd Gold International Championship at Kathmandu, Nepal and brought laurels to the State by winning gold medal.
