JAMMU, Jan 5: A man was arrested along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches from Bus-Stand, here today.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bus Stand police station subjected a man for checking on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 50 pints of illicit liquor from the man and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Rohit Kumar, a resident of Bari Brahmana, district Samba, at present Katra.
He was carrying the illicit liquor pouches for sale among the people in holy town Katra on exorbitant rates, as sale of illicit liquor is banned in Katra.
A case under FIR Number 2/16 under Section 48-A Excise act has been registered against the accused at Bus Stand police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bus Stand police station Inspector Paramjit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City Peerbeet Singh Parihar, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
