JAMMU, Jan 14: Police today arrested a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor bottles from Ashok Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Gandhi Nagar police station conducted a raid in a house at Ashok Nagar, Satwari.
During raid, police recovered 70 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested a person, who has been identified as Mohammad Mukhtair, son of Mohammad Maqbool of Bihar, at present Ashok Nagar, Satwari.
The accused use to sell the liquor bottles among the people on exorbitant rates during occasions, when wine shops remains closed.
A under FIR number 10/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar police station Inspector Paramjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
