JAMMU : A Station House Officer and his subordinate were suspended after a man allegedly died in police custody in Khour police station in Akhnoor area on city outskirts of this winter capital.
“A man identified as Harbans Lal alias Panchi Ram, a resident of village Lalri, Kot Bhalwal, died early morning today in custody of Police Station Khour,” reliable sources here today said.
They said he was arrested as suspect in murder case. “The body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem,” sources added.
However, a senior police official said in view of death in the police custody, the SHO Police Station Khour Surinder Raina and his subordinate (Mushi) has been placed under suspension while enquiry has been ordered into the case. Meanwhile, the family and relatives of the deceased also staged protest outside Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu against alleged atrocities by the police. (AGENCIES)
