JAMMU, June 4: One person was arrested in Subash Nagar area here today after he threw chilli powder into a woman’s eyes and tried to snatch her gold chain, officials said.
The accused, identified as Jatinder Singh (47), a resident of RS Pura, had knocked on the door of a woman named Suresh Matoo and suddenly attacked her with chilli powder in an attempt to steal her chain, they said.
However, before he could flee on his bike, local residents overpowered him and handed him over to the police, they said.
Accordingly, the police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law against the accused at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and started further investigation into the matter.
