Man arrested with illicit liquor

NOWSHERA, June 15: Continuing its drive against the menace of illicit liquor, the Nowshera police today apprehended one individual with a substantial quantity of illicit liquor.
During routine patrolling duty in Kanara area, a police party from Police Station Nowshera led by Station House Officer (SHO), Inspector Arjun Magotra, intercepted a suspicious individual. Upon inquiry, the person was identified as Tarlochan Singh, son of Bhagwan Singh, resident of House No. 20, Qila Darhal.
Upon conducting a personal search, approximately 10 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession. Preliminary investigation suggests that the liquor was being stored for unlawful sale in the local area, thereby violating the provisions of the Excise Act.
Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody and the liquor seized as per legal procedure. In this regard, FIR No. 78/2025 U/S 48(A) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Nowshera. The accused has been formally arrested and further investigation is underway.
