JAMMU, Oct 27: Police today arrested a man for killing his wife and later trying to dispose the body by setting it ablaze in Dudu Basantgarh area of district Udhampur.
Police spokesman said that, Maan Singh, son of Frangu Chand of Dudu Basantgarh, had an altercation with his wife Kanta Devi, last night. Later Maan Singh hit his wife with a sharp edged weapon ‘Daraat’ on her head.
He said that, Maan Singh tried to dispose the body of his wife, by setting it afire by pouring kerosene oil, adding, that the brother of the victim, informed the police about the incident.
On getting information, police party from police post Dudu rushed to the spot and arrested the man along with weapon of offence, spokesman added.
The body has been shifted to hospital for postmortem, while, a case under FIR number 30/12 under Section 302 RPC was registered at Police Station Basantgarh and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind the killing.
