Malik, Rashpal inaugurate Kissan Mela

JAMMU, Dec 29: An awareness camp-cum-Kissan Mela was organized by J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans at Reasi today.
Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik was the chief guest of the function.
Besides, Rachpal Singh, Vice Chairman of the State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Ex- MLAs and MLCs, district officers and people from different walks of the life including around 1000 farmers participated in the Mela.
All the district offices of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Fisheries, Sericulture and allied sectors installed their stalls in the Mela-cum-awareness camp for exposing the participating farmers to the latest technologies, agriculture implements, farm machinery and technical knowhow available with various agriculture related departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Gani Malik stressed upon the unemployed educated youth of the district to come forward and take advantage of schemes like Udaan, Himmat and Sher-i-Kashmir employment Scheme through J&K Entrepreneur Development Institute(JKEDI). He further informed the youth that four tier policy for power generation is being adopted in the State and the educated un-employed youth should come forward to set up some power generating units to tap the available water resources.
Rachpal Singh, Vice Chairman of the Board said that the Kissan Advisory Board has been constituted by the Government to serve as a bridge between the Government and the farming community. He informed the farmers that they should come forward and take benefit of the welfare schemes available in agriculture and allied department.
On spot instructions were issued to district officers of agriculture and line departments for creating awareness about the welfare schemes at the door step of the farmers by organizing awareness camp in every nook and corner of the district.
