SRINAGAR, July 31: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din has asked the hospital authorities to make the operation theatres fully equipped and functional so that patients do not face any inconvenience.
Chairing a meeting to review the status of operation theatres at various hospitals, the Minister asked the authorities concerned to revisit the facilities and functionalities at the operation theatres in order to serve the patients in a better and efficient way.
The meeting was told that 32 operation theatres are functional at GMC, Srinagar and its Associated Hospitals against 29 last year. It was also given out that during the last financial year 17,000 surgeries were conducted in these theatres.
Mr. Taj underscored the need for equipping hospitals with most modern surgical amenities and equipment so that the treatment is rendered to the maximum level of precision. He said the field of surgery has made many advances across the globe and these advances need to be factored in our operation theatres.
The Minister directed making Kashmir Nursing Home and Sanat Nagar Maternity Hospital fully functional so that the patient rush on other adjoining hospitals is rationalized. He also asked for streamlining manpower and conducting human resource auditing of GMC and Associated Hospitals.
Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Gazzanfar Hussain; Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rafiq Pampori and other senior doctors and officers were present in the meeting.
