JANDRAH (Nagrota), Dec 3: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today criticised PDP-BJP coalition for sabotaging transfer of power to people of Jandrah by delaying  functioning of tehsil office sanctioned over two years ago.
“The obstructive tactics of the Government reflect its anarchic and anti-people attitude”, Rana said while referring to callous delay despite assurance in the Legislative Assembly about staff-sanctioning being examined by the Finance Department. He said he took up this issue vociferously in the Assembly last year and early this year but except for assurances the Government did practically nothing on ground.
Interacting with party workers during his extensive visit of Jandrah area in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, he said the people of the area have made clear to the Government that if tehsil office is not made functional by this month end they will have no option but to take to streets.
“We hope the Government will see reason in justified demand and shun confrontational attitude”, he said and sought internal arrangement of officials till the staff is sanctioned by the competent authority. This, he said, will satiate the aspirations of the people who have struggled hard to have tehsil level administrative unit in hugely populated Jandrah area.
He said the Government will be fully responsible for consequences if it fails in making the tehsil office functional within deadline. He expressed anguish over provocative posturing of some local BJP leaders, who were mocking the people on this issue.
Rana said that the historic decision of carving out new administrative units across the State was aimed at giving impetus to development and taking administration to people’s door-steps, thus relieving them of spending days and travelling long distances in pursuit of redressal of administrative matters. This was a major initiative during the past nearly seven decades to empower people and provide respite to those living in disadvantageous areas. “But the present dispensation deliberately created road-blocks in its implementation due to political motivation”, he added.
The MLA Nagrota also dwelt upon issues like power, drinking water, supply of rations and expressed concern over rate enhancement of foodgrains provided through CAPD outlets.
