ANANTNAG, Jan 16: Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Minster, Abdul Rehman Veeri has appealed the LG administration to make elaborate arrangements for Maha Shivratri festival falling in next week.
In a statement issued here, today he said that the Maha Shivratri is one of the sacred festivals of Kashmiri Pandits. It has been a precedence in Kashmir that every Government in the erstwhile State used to make elaborate arrangements by making all essential items available at controlled rates to the community including Pooja Samgri like flowers, Bail leaves, vegetables, milk etc.
Veeri said that the Government should open special counters in migrant camps and Pandit colonies in non camp areas of Jammu to make available walnuts, flowers, milk, vegetables, Cheese etc and have a constant check on market rates. Veeri also demanded that such counters be also opened in those areas of Kashmir Valley where the members of Pandit community are residing.
He also demanded that the salaries of the package employees be immediately released so that these families don’t face any difficulty in celebrating the festival. Besides the relief and ration of migrant relief holders for the month of February be also released prior to holy festival.
