JAMMU, Nov 16: A major tragedy was averted by the GRP personnel by extinguishing the fire, which broke out near India Oil Depot, adjacent to Railway Station Jammu, today.
A sudden fire broke out near Indian Oil Depot adjacent to Railway Station Jammu here today.
On receiving information regarding the incident, SP Railways Jammu Suram Singh deputed SHO Police Station GRP Jammu Inspector Neeraj Choudhary, Incharge Police Post GRP East and QRT from GRP Lines to the spot alongwith the commando team of police station GRP Jammu.
GRP personnel rushed to the spot and fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control and major tragedy was averted. Had the fire not been controlled well in time, it would have caused major loss of life and property of Indian Oil Depot and to the adjacent buildings.
SP Railways Jammu Suram Singh rewarded the GRP jawans, who played vital role to control the fire.
