JAMMU, July 8: Police today detected a major security breach by GVK construction agency, which was shifting blasting material including gelatin rods, detonators etc from one place to another without security and permission of the authorities at Drabshalla, the site of construction of Ratle power project, in Kishtwar district.
Police sources said the construction company had dumped explosive material with permission of the authorities in a room at Drabshalla opposite a security installation. However, the company hadn’t obtained permission to shift the blasting material from one place to another. They had been shifting the material without security and permission, which could have resulted into a major security problem in the militancy-infested district, they added.
They said the construction company was required to inform police and take permission for shifting of explosive material. Police had to get the material shifted under security cover.
Police have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
