DODA, Mar 27:  Though the rest of the world entered into 21st Century with modernization but major parts of Kishtwar and far flung areas of erstwhile Doda district in J&K are still inaccessible due to lack of transportation and road connectivity.
This was stated by president Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) and party candidate for Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Anil Gupta while addressing public meetings at various places in erstwhile Doda district.
He said it takes two to three days to reach some of the remotest places by foot for the villagers. Healthcare facilities and other basic amenities of life are non existence in these areas. Some of the areas are still dreaming about electricity and transport facilities and they are not confident of getting the same in their lifespan.
While visiting the villages Dulandi, Bhatyas and Gandhoo Bhalessa in Kishtwar district, Anil Gupta pointed out that  people of these areas  are only seeing the faces of political representatives during the time of elections which reach by their elite helicopters and make false promises for the sake of getting votes and thereafter leave these people on their destiny for another five years. This practice has become routine for these hapless people. Even some of the villagers have to send their wards to the distances of 60 KMs and above for getting the higher studies due to the lack of schools and other educational infrastructure in these areas. Absence of healthcare centers often make ordinary ailment a serious one, resulting into casualty, which otherwise could have been simply cured.
He said the Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who also happens to belong from this area, claims of bringing ultra modern medical facilities  in the State, but there are large number of people in these areas of his home Constituency who are deaf and dumb and he might have forgotten to take these people on the board by his so called medical reforms in the State.
Poverty and unemployment due to illiteracy have made these areas much backward as they actually appear due to their geographical state of appearance. The unemployed youth are the soft targets of anti social elements, who easily trap them into the path of extremism, Gupta added.
