Major infiltration bid foiled

SRINAGAR, July 31: Army today foiled an infiltration attempt by a heavily armed militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered arms and ammunition.
Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said here that at about 3 am suspicious move of unidentified persons was detected 600 metres on Indian side of LoC at Machhal Sector, Kupwara.
He said that the infiltrating militants were intercepted by Army troops deployed there. They were challenged which led to an encounter.
He said that at first light, the searches of the area was carried out. “A blood trail was seen and 3 AKs, a sniper rifle, 8 grenades and other warlike stores were recovered. Search in the area is in progress”, he said.
