Srinagar : Army today foiled a major infiltration bid by killing two militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of North Kashmir early today.
An army spokesman said that the troops noticed movement of about six infiltrators near Ghoda gap inside the LoC in Indian Territory in Keran sector and challenged them.
“The infiltrators opened fire and army returned the fire leading to an encounter in which two militants were killed while three of them fled away towards Pakistan under the cover of darkness”, the army spokesman said.
The spokesman said that one body is probably lying near the LoC and troops are trying to locate it.
This is the first infiltration bid that was foiled after the killing of 5 soldiers in Poonch sector on August 6.
