Major bovines smuggling bids foiled; 176 cattle rescued, 14 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 24: Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli, Ramban, Chanderkote, Dharamkund and Khour police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 176 cattle and arresting 14 persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka and intercepted seven Srinagar bound vehicles.
During checking, police rescued 108 bovine animals and arrested eight persons, who have been identified as Ajaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohamma Sagar Bhat of Churet Kulgam, Younis, son of Noorani of Vijaypur District Samba, Liaqat Ali, son of Noorani of Anantnag, Mohammad Sameer, son of Mohammad Saleem of Ragoora Jammu, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Kalu of Anantnag, at present Sidhra, Shahnawaz Wani, son of Nazir Ahmed Wani of Anantnag, at present Ragoora Jammu, Niku, son of Mansha of Mishriwala Jammu and Mohammad Aslam, son of Mohammad Malli of Takki, District Samba.
In another similar incident, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station rescued 11 bovine animals from a truck and seized it, while the accused driver managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
Police teams led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Sanjeev Gupta foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma, Incharge SP Rural Girdhari Lal Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
Meanwhile, teams from Ramban, Chanderkote and Dharamkund Police Stations rescued 55 bovine animals and arrested five persons, who have been identified as Parveen Singh, son of Sardar Singh of RS Pura, Jammu, Mohammad Aslam, son of Farid Ahmed of Parnote, Mohammad Shakeel, son of Mohammad of JP Gate Chanderkote, Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Mohammad Yousif of Phalty and Harbans Singh, son of Nana Singh of Chak Mohd Yaar RS Pura Jammu.
Police teams led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal, SHO Chanderkote Inspector Abid Bukhari, SHO Dharamkund Inspector Ajeet Singh and Incharge Police Post Rajghar SI Sunil Sharma made the arrests under supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
In one more incident, a team from Khour Police Station laid a naka at Dhelleri bridge and intercepted a Mahindra Bolera vehicle.
During checking, police team rescued 2 bovine animals and arrested one person, who has been identified as Munshi Khan, son of Haqim Din of Thanamandi District Ramban.
Police team led by SHO Khour Inspector Joginder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, Incharge SP Rural Girdhari Lal Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli, Ramban, Chanderkote, Dharamkund and Khour Police Stations and investigation started.
