Major bovine smuggling bid foiled, 6 arrested

RAMBAN, Apr 19: In a major crackdown over bovine smugglers, police today rescued 41 milch animals and arrested six persons near Karol Bridge area, falling under the jurisdiction of Ramban police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Ramban police station laid a naka at Karol Bridge and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14B-6335 and two Mahindra Load carriers bearing registration numbers JK19-1611 and JK14B-9570.
During checking, police rescued 41 bovine animals and arrested six persons on the spot, who were smuggling the bovines to Valley without valid permission.
The accused have been identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Fareed Ahmed of Parnote, Ramban, Nisar Ahmed, son of Abdul Hamid of Neel, Gagwani Tehsil Banihal, Mohammad Nazim, son of Reyaz Ahmed of Champa Batote, Farooq Ahmed, son of Abdulla Matoo of Qazigund Sringar, Abdul Rehman, son of Gulam Mohammad of Magarkot at present Udhampur and Mohammad Mirza, son of Gulab Din of Treath, district Udhampur.
A case under FIR number 46/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Ajay Singh made the arrest under the supervision of Narinder Singh Parihar, DySP Headquarters Ramban and Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban.
