Maize futures fall 0.81% on muted demand

NEW DELHI, May 25: Maize prices declined 0.81 per cent to Rs 1,221 per quintal in futures trade today on the trimming of positions in line with muted physical demand.
Market players said besides cutting down bets by traders, tepid demand for poultry feed makers and ample stocks in the spot markets put pressure on the maize futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize delivery for July contract fell Rs 10, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 1,221 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,980 lots.
Also, the delivery of the most active June contract dropped by Rs 7, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 1,200 per quintal with an open interest of 6,200 lots. (PTI)
