Srinagar, Mar 18: Police claimed to have arrested a domestic helper and recovered the stolen gold jewellery worth rupees 3 lakhs from him while he was trying to flee from the Valley.
A police spokesman said that Fayaz Ahmad Mutoo of Baghat, Barzulla, reported that his domestic servant Sandeep Ghansi of Jharkhand has fled away after stealing gold ornaments worth lakhs from his house.
Police registered a case FIR no. 17/2014 under Section 381 RPC and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
“With the help of technical inputs the accused was tracked at Nowgam Railway Station. The accused was arrested with the stolen ornaments when he was trying to flee from the Valley in the train,” spokesman said.
