JAMMU, Jan 23: Pradesh Mahila Congress, under the leadership of State president Indu Pawar (ex-MLA), today organized introductory meet of Mahila Block & Booth level Delegates of Panchayats of all districts of Jammu province.
The meeting was presided over by G A Mir, PCC president while Sushmita Dev, MP and president All India Mahila Congress, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speakers said that the representation of women in Panchayats as Panches and Sarpanches was the need of hour and dreams come true of Late Rajiv Gandhi.
Issue of border firing by Pakistan remained focus of the convention and the participants expressed serious concern over loss of lives and property in unprovoked firing from across the border.
They alleged that border area people were feeling cheated by BJP Government at Centre as big promises were made by BJP in 2014 elections to border inhabitants for providing alternative land at safe places and also providing them security to ensure safety of their lives and property. “Instead, BJP led Government has left them at mercy of Pakistan and Border migrants are knocking doors of BJP led Government while Ministers are busy in photo session in hospitals instead of consoling the victims of Pakistan firing. Both the Governments at State and Centre have failed in tackling problems of border area people who are victims of Pakistan firing and could not ensure security of their lives and property,” they alleged.
The speakers also drew attention towards increasing rate of crime against women in J&K, which depicts the failure of State Government in providing a safe environment to the women folk. The time has come when we make public aware about failures of this Government on all fronts,” they exhorted.
Indu Pawar proposed vote thanks for the chief guest and said that similar meetings will also be organized in Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh provinces and the workers would be intimated later in this regard.
Sushmita Dev, president of All India Mahila Congress also met a women deputation on the issue of tripple Talaq.
