JAMMU, Sept 30: Pradesh Mahila Congress activists held protest demonstration against the decision of Modi Government to withdraw postal stamps of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
Led by Indu Pawar, former MLA and president J&K Mahila Congress unit, the party activists assembled at Indira Chowk here and started protest against NDA Govt for withdrawing postal stamps of former Prime Ministers and top Congress leaders Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
Protests raised slogans against Union Minister for Communications and IT, Ravi Shanker Prasad and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for their act of withdrawing stamps of National leaders. They termed the act as revengeful.
Ms Pawar said that nations which do not respect their heroes who have laid down their lives for the cause of nation seldom progress. The leadership qualities of Indira Gandhi was acknowledged by whole world and the leader none other than Atal Behari Vajpayee. Vajpayee named her as ` Shakti’ in 1971 war when India won against Pakistan and creation of Bangladesh was witnessed, she said.
She further said that NDA instead of wasting time on these issues should devote their time for upliftment of poor of this nation & also fulfill premises made to public. Others who spoke and participated included Prabha Slathia, Sushma Choudhary, Santosh Sharma, Suman Choudhary, Seeta, Suman Lata and Vimla Slathia.
