Mahan kick-starts constt work of road from Khajura to Mashka

KATHUA, Jan 22: Giving big relief to the people of Hutt Mashka remote region, DDC Chairman Kathua Col Mahan Singh (Retired) today kick-started work of 5.5 kilometre-long PMGSY road to be constructed at a cost of about Rs 8.0 crore.
The Road, which will be constructed by PMGSY Roads Division Kathua under Phase III (Batch 1st) Scheme from Khajura(Dalow) to Mashka (upto NHPC Complex) via Village Hutt falling under Sheetal Nagar (Bhoond) block of the District, will fulfill long pending demand of the people of this remote region and provide vital road link between J&K and Chamba district of Himachal Pardesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan said that this road is vital for development. He said this road link will also provide push to tourism as the region falling this side opposite Dalhousie has high potential for tourism development. He expressed happiness on the pace of the development which has picked up during last two years in the region.
“I believe on inclusiveness and public participation in the process of development and District Development Council Kathua is committed to change the lives of people in the region through sustainable development and employment generation,” the DDC Chairman added.
Besides, DDC Chairman who is local DDC Councilor as well, Sarpanch Draman, Sarpanch Hutt, Soni Mohd, Ajay Kotwal, prominent residents, PMGSY AEE Basohli and staff, contractor Tilak Singh were also present on the occasion.
