Mahajayanti of Bhagawaan Gopinath celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU, July 28: The 117th Mahajayanti of  Jagadguru Bhagawaan Gopinath Ji was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Bhagwaanji’ Udaiwala Ashram near here today.
The devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged the Bhagawaanji’s Ashram from early morning but their number swelled to thousands by the afternoon when the traditional pooja was performed. However the rush continued up to late in the evening as devotees continued to throng the Ashram to pay obeisance to Bhagawaanji.
The entire Gopinath Ashram at Udaiwala gave a festive look as it was fully decorated and illuminated by the devotees and volunteers of Bhagawaan Gopi Nath Trust which had organized the function.
According to a handout issued by the Trust, the Bhagawaan Ji’s Ashram at Bohri is a Sidh Peeth for devotees who visit the Ashram daily for worship. The programme started with Paduka Poojan in the morning and the devotees worshiped the symbolic Paduka of Bhagwaan Ji on the occasion.
This was followed by serving Prashad to hundreds of Sadhus as per tradition. They were also given Dakshana (cash offerings). This practice continues from Bhagawaanji’s life time when Sadhus on Amarnath pilgrimage were served prashad in large numbers at Bhagwaan Ji’s Kharyar Ashram by him on the day.
Besides, the devotional songs and musical programme continued till late in the evening. The evening Aarti concluded at 7.15 pm. There was intense activity throughout the day. The Trust had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees.
The authorities had also made all arrangements for supply of drinking water, proper power supply and transport facilities for the devotees on the occasion.
A grand function was also held at Bhagawaanji’s Kharyar Ashram in Srinagar where Bhagawaanji’s stayed during his life time. A large number of devotees also thronged there to participate in the function and paid obeisance to Bhagawaanji.
In addition to it the Mahajayanti was also celebrated at Bhagawaanji’s greater Kailash, Pamposh Enclave, New Delhi  Ashram and its centers at Amar Colony, Gole Gujral, Camp Road, Talab Tillo , Jammu , Hastsal, Vikaspuri, West Delhi, Anand Marg Hall, Plot No 150, Sector 2, Charkop Village Naka, Kandivilli, Mumbai, Shiv Mandir, Sutarwadi, near Pashan Lake, Pashan Pune, Maharashtra and at Kristal Oilivine Apartments, near Bangalore Central Mall, Sarjapur Outer Ring Road, Bellunder, Bangalore and at Satsang Mandals at Amritsar Punjab and UT of Chandigarh.
It may be recalled that after mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Valley in 1989-90 the Bhagawaan Gopinath Ashram emerged as one of the biggest centers for religious, spiritual and social activities of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu.
