Mahajan Sabha, other biradaris resolve to bring reforms

JAMMU, Dec 27: Greater Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha in coordination with Gandhi Nagar Mahajan Sabha during meeting with heads of various biradaris/ Sabhas, after a function in connection with 125th birth anniversary of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan here today, resolved to bring certain reforms in the society.
The members of the Mahajan Sabha and heads of several Biradaries including Ved Parkash Sharma, president Brahaman Sabha and Narayan Singh from Rajput Sabha unanimously decided to bring some reforms and simplify marriage functions. The members issued appeal to all the biradaris to say no to dowry, minimize the number of marriage party members/ baratis, stop distributing   sweets packets/ Dabbas with invitation cards and prefer extending invitation through mobile phones or e-mails to avoid unnecessary expenditure and also save time.
The members during meeting also highly appreciated the initiative taken by the Jain Biradari in this connection. They hoped that such initiatives will certainly help the other biradris in following suit. The participants lauded the initiative taken by Greater Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha in bringing all the biradaris at one platform to achieve a social and common cause aiming at welfare of all.
After thorough discussion, it was decided that all the Biradaris heads would discuss these issues internally within their respective Sabhas  and take steps to ensure that the suggested reforms are adopted and implemented in letter and spirit.
Earlier, a Havan was also performed at the venue (Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan Park, Gandhinagar)  and Puran Ahuti was given by the participants.  It was followed by joint meeting.
Promiment among those present included V K Gupta (Secy-GJCMS), Ved Parkash Sharma- president Dogra Brahman Sabha, Narayan Singh- Rajpuit Sabha, J&K, K L Gupta, S K Gupta, Dr J G Langar, Y R Gupta, Prem Gupta, V P Gupta, Jagdish Vaid- president Gandhinagar Mahajan Sabha, Bansi Lal Gupta, P C Gupta, K B Jandial, Romesh Gupta, Raj Paul Gupta, Dr R K Gupta, Raman Mahajan and Jugal Mahajan.
Among others, Jugal Mahajan Chairman, Er. S.P. Langer President Mahajan Sabha and Ved Parkash Sharma president Brahman Sabha spoke on the occasion.
Lastly Er V K Gupta Secretary Greater Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha thanked to all the participants and for taking action on Guest Control Act.
