JAMMU, Oct 22: A meeting of Kashmiri migrants was held here, today under the leadership of its president /chairman Ramesh Chander Mahajan which demanded that the pending demands of Kashmiri migrants and non-migrants of Valley be redressed immediately.
The meeting said that the Kashmiri migrants have been suffering a lot for the past 34 years. It appealed to Government of India to take an initiative for rehabilitating and permanent settlement of the migrants. It also demanded framing of concrete plans and required policy decisions that offer all benefits in terms of social, political and economic , protection as well as the restoration of their properties and cultural heritage and reservation of 35000 jobs for the suffering unemployed youths.
The present cash dole does not meet day-to-day expenses due to hike in prices of commodities, school fees, medicines etc. The meeting demanded enhancement of monthly cash relief to Rs 7000/-per soul with free medical aid/and medi-claim to relief holders. It also demanded announcement of 15,000 jobs for migrants in UT of J&K.
