Jammu, June 30: For the first time, ‘Mahadev Ka Mahotsav’ was held in J&K last evening ahead of the highly revered Shri Amarnathji Yatra. The venue was the sprawling Dussehra Ground at Gandhi Nagar here.
With hundreds of Shiva ‘Bhakts’ in attendance, the event was worth seeing as bhaint singers enthralled them all. The main attraction was, however, Shiva ‘Tandava’ and Aghori ‘Nritya’ that mesmerised all. The performance was appreciated by one & all.
The event was jointly organised by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, and Shri Amarnathji Yatra Welfare Society – a constituent of Tourism Federation of Jammu.
Kiran Wattal, president of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Welfare Society (SAYWS) & vice-chairman of Tourism Federation of Jammu, thanked the artists for their spell bound performances.
He said the society, in association with the Directorate of Tourism, plans to make ‘Mahadev Ka Mahotsav’ an annual affair on the eve of Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Wattal said they were committed to join the government efforts in giving religious tourism a push in J&K.
Besides Wattal, SAYWS senior vice-president Anil Gupta, vice-president Ashwani Gupta, general secretary Prem Sharma, joint secretary Kuldeep Luthra and Raman Suri, general secretary of Tourism Federation of Jammu, also attended the event.
Among others present on the occasion included ex-deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, ex-MLC Ashok Khajuria, ex-MLC Vikram Randhawa, ex-minister Gharu Ram, Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Rajesh Gupta and veteran journalist Bharat Bhushan.
A teaser of the event was released last week jointly by joint director, tourism, Jammu, Sunaina Mehta, Kiran Wattal, B B Kotwal, Ashwani Gupta and others at TRC here.
Mohit Chopra of Indian Idol fame, Pankaj Raj (T-Series fame) and Pawan Sharma were the bhaint singers who made captivating performances.
