JAMMU, Aug 17: Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Professor of Urdu in Jammu University was today honoured by Department of Arabic, Persian & Urdu of Madras University, Chennai for his contribution to language & literature.
A memento and a shawl were presented to Prof Shohab by Prof Qazi Habib Ahmed, HOD Arabic, Persian & Urdu, Madras University, during a program “An evening with Prof Shohab Inayat Malik.”
The simple but impressive function was attended by Urdu poets & writers of Madras. The reputed scholars, researchers & poet of Madras Kaleem Saba Navidi graced the occasion as chief guest.
In honour of Prof Shohab, an Urdu Mushaira was also organized on the occasion, wherein prominent poets of Madras recited their poetic works. Besides, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik also released a book titled “Urdu in Tamil Nadu” written by Prof Habib Ahmed.
